About Us
Keeping the spirit and passions of Winifred Johnson Clive alive by funding programs she supported.
Our Mission
The Mission of the Winifred Johnson Clive Foundation is to keep the spirit and passions of Winifred Johnson Clive alive by funding programs and organizations that she supported during her lifetime, and by responding to new organizations that embody and extend her philanthropic heritage.
“Aunt Winnie” was cherished by her family, and those who serve on the board of her foundation honor her memory through our grantmaking. We fund projects benefiting churches she supported, education, the arts, wildlife conservation, projects which address the challenges of aging, improve the welfare of children or animals, assist victims of domestic violence or abuse, or help U.S. military veterans recover from physical or psychological injuries sustained as a result of their service via programs that relate to other areas the foundation supports.

JOHNSON FAMILY
The foundation provides various opportunities for eligible family members who are not board trustees to engage with its work.
ASSOCIATE TRUSTEE POSITION
The Board of Trustees wants to encourage younger family members to learn first-hand about the Foundation by directly participating in the grantmaking process. The Board has instituted a category of membership called an “Associate Trustee.” Up to one family member may serve in this capacity each year. The Associate Trustee will develop a deeper knowledge of areas of grantmaking practices and program evaluation. It is hoped that the participation of an associate trustee will reinforce their commitment to community involvement and deepen relationships with other trustees and members of the non-profit community.
FAMILY GRANTS
The Foundation provides opportunities for non-trustee Johnson family members (descendants of Grace Phillips Johnson) who wish to bring grant requests to the Winifred Johnson Clive Foundation for its consideration for funding. The Foundation welcomes such requests, but it is essential to understand the process, time deadlines, and purposes for which grants will be considered.
